I studied at the Faculty of Education in Hradec Králové, but I did not go straight into teaching. Education found me anyway. I trained colleagues in the financial sector, taught bartenders in London and built a sales team. Every time I saw the same thing: people only really learn once they know why they are doing it.

We watch school grades, but we do not build the preparation on them, because a school report measures different things than the national exam. So we start with diagnostics and only then build the architecture of the preparation: the goal, the plan and the habit that holds it together even in a weak week. I run the analysis myself. I talk to the child and to you, and the outcome is a written report with a plan, not impressions from a call.

The question that interests me most is why. Once a child knows what they are learning for, preparation stops being a fight and starts making sense. Responsibility is handed over gradually: first the parent holds it, then the parent together with the child, and in the end the child alone. That, not a single lesson, is the point of this work.

I started tutoring more than ten years ago, on my own, with individual children. I soon found that another hour of maths does not help a child who is afraid of mistakes, cannot read the question or does not know what they are learning for. That is how Doučení jinak came about. Tutoring a handful of children grew into a team that guides a family from entrance exams all the way to university, and the same foundation now carries the international brand Failscool. We still start the same way: with one child and their question why.
