Admissions to schools that award an international diploma
In the Czech Republic, several routes lead to an international diploma, and each has its own admissions. Some schools admit children through the Czech unified entrance exam (Cermat), others run their own process in English, and at some schools it is a combination of both. We help you choose the route that suits your child and prepare them for the admissions that come with it.

What an international diploma is
A qualification universities recognise at home and abroad
An international diploma is a secondary school qualification recognised by universities in the Czech Republic and abroad. The most common is the IB Diploma, a two-year programme for students aged 16 to 19. There is also the American high school diploma and the British IGCSE exams. At some Czech gymnázia a student can take the maturita and the IB together.

The IB after Czech admissions
These schools are in the Czech school register, so the child takes the unified exam in Czech and maths plus the school's own part. The unified exam matters most.
Gymnázium a SOŠ Rokycany
stateState four-year gymnázium. After the second year students can move into the IB and finish with the maturita, the IB or both.

Six-year gymnázium, IB in years 5 and 6. Children apply in grade 7 (Year 1); later entry into higher years is possible.

From a Czech school: the unified exam plus the school's own tests (maths, English, non-verbal) and an interview. From abroad, from an international school or into Years 2 to 4: the school's own tests and an interview only.

Eight-year gymnázium, IB in the last two years. Most students hold a scholarship.

DINO-HIGH SCHOOL
Private eight-year gymnázium. IGCSE is followed by the IB, finishing with both the maturita and the IB.

Gymnázium with the IB in years 3 and 4, after two years of Czech-English study.

Nový PORG, four-year gymnázium
Four-year gymnázium in Prague 4. In the final years students choose between the maturita and the IB.

Unified exam (66 %, at least 30 points in each subject) and the school's aptitude test (34 %).
Gymnázium Duhovka
Eight-year gymnázium, optional IB in years 7 and 8 alongside the maturita.

Gymnázium Evolution Jižní Město
Six-year and four-year gymnázium, IB in the last two years alongside the maturita. Students from other secondary schools can transfer into the IB after an aptitude test.

1st International School of Ostrava
Eight-year gymnázium, IB in years 7 and 8 alongside the maturita. Students from other secondary schools can transfer into the IB after tests in English, a second language and maths.

A child schooled abroad can ask for the Czech language exam to be waived. How the waiver works. Time at an international school in the Czech Republic does not count, and maths is never waived.
Route 2
An American diploma alongside the Czech maturita
The child attends a Czech school and an American programme at the same time, finishing with both the maturita and an American diploma.
Sunny Canadian International School
The AP programme alongside the Czech maturita.
American Academy
An online American high school. Students study from home or in a dual programme through a gymnázium (for example Pražské humanitní gymnázium).
One of our students moved this way from an ordinary primary school to American Academy and studies from home.
Route 3
Joining an international school at 16
International schools are not bound by the unified exam. They run their own admissions, usually English tests and an interview. Students join the IB after lower secondary school.

We have prepared children for schools with their own admissions part for years. We know what it tests, how it is scored and where children most often lose points.
English College in Prague
We know the school's own maths and English tests, the non-verbal test and the interview in English in detail, and prepare for them from the school's sample papers. We also know when the unified exam does not apply: for children from abroad, from international schools and for entry into higher years.

From an international school in the Czech Republic without the unified exam?
Often, yes. The unified exam does not apply to a child moving to another international school, joining a higher year, or applying to the English College in Prague. At gymnázia with the IB that are in the Czech school register (for example Open Gate or Duhovka), everyone applying for the first year takes the unified exam. We are happy to go through what applies to your child.

The IB for free in Denmark
Public gymnasiums in Denmark that offer the IB charge no tuition to students from the EU. Students join from the age of 16 with English at around B2. Boarding usually costs money; for students under 18 it tends to be cheaper, and in some places it is free. We help with choosing the school, the application and the motivation letter.
