Liz

Hi, I am Liz and I am from Georgia. I completed the IB Diploma Programme in May 2023 and I am now studying Mechanical and Electrical Systems Engineering in Kyoto, Japan. Beyond engineering I have a strong passion for languages and communication. I speak five languages and am currently studying Japanese, so I know first hand what it takes to learn and think in a new language.

I am very familiar with feeling lost and struggling academically, and I still experience it as I move through my degree. Over time I have come to see that feeling out of place is not a sign of weakness but an opportunity for growth. Learning how to approach a subject from zero and build understanding step by step is one of the most valuable skills a person can develop.

I am motivated by growth and long term progress. The effort we put in today shapes who we become tomorrow. Every book we read, every skill we practise and every challenge we take on builds confidence and competence over time. When I lack motivation, I picture the future version of myself who has already achieved what I am working for.

I left Georgia after the IB to study in Japan. I speak five languages and Japanese is the latest one in the row.

In my free time I make art, mainly painting and collages. I also enjoy reading fiction, exploring new places and playing recreational sports such as badminton and volleyball. I like experimenting with new interests from time to time, just to see whether something unexpected suits me. Most recently that has been acting and screenwriting.
